THANK YOU for registering for Noble County Idol!
The following rules apply to all participants who audition for Noble County Idol.
1. Contestants must be over 10 years of age to participate. All participants ages 10-16 will be judged in the junior division, while participants ages 17 and up will be judged in the adult division.
2. Because this event is a fundraiser, a non-refundable entry fee of $15 is due, payable at the time of audition.
3. Contestants or their parent/guardian must sign a photo release/waiver at the time of audition.
4. Contestants should bring a wallet-sized photo to the audition to be used by the judges. Photos will be returned upon request after the competition is over.
5. Contestants will be given one minute to audition before the judges. All auditions must be performed a cappella (No background music will be allowed ).
6. Contestants will be judged on their performance in the following areas: pitch, timing, appropriate dress, overall musical ability, confidence, song choice, professionalism and overall star quality.
7. Participants must be a resident of Noble County, and must provide proof of residency at the time of the audition. Acceptable proof of residency may include: current drivers license, copy of a current utility bill, and/or school records.
8. Only non-professional vocal performers are permitted to enter the contest. Paid performers are not eligible to participate or compete for prizes.
9. After the first round of auditions has been held, judges will select finalists in both the junior and adult divisions to compete in the final elimination round. (The first round of finalists will be announced on WAWK-The Hawk Radio on Monday, April 12th at 10:00am, and will also be notified in writing or by phone on that date).
10. Audition participants who are not selected for the final elimination round will NOT be contacted, therefore it is important that all participants listen to WAWK at the scheduled time to find out whether they have been selected.
11. The Final Elimination Round will be held on Wednesday, April 14th at 3:30pm at a place to be determined. During this round, judges will select ten finalists in each division to participate at the final competition event on May 1st.
12. Judges decisions are final.
13. No immediate family members of United Way of Noble County or the Noble County Idol Planning Committee are eligible to participate.
14. Participants who schedule an audition and do not arrive by their scheduled audition time may be required to reschedule and/or may lose their opportunity to audition. Organizers will make every attempt to accommodate participants, but cannot guarantee an opportunity for late or missed auditions.
15. All participants must sign an agreement acknowledging acceptance to the terms and conditions of the contest outlined in this document.
In addition to the rules outlined above, the following rules apply to those contestants who are selected to perform at the main event on May 1st at the Kendallville Event Center.
1. Contestants should arrive at the Kendallville Event Center no later than 5:00pm on the night of the main event to prepare, review and rehearse.
2. Contestants should plan on eating a meal prior to arrival at the event, in case the schedule does not allow for a dinner break.
3. Contestants will be given 2 minutes to perform before the judges. Contestants must provide their own background music/ accompaniment.
4. Contestants will be judged on their performance in the following areas: pitch, timing, appropriate dress, overall musical ability, confidence, song choice, professionalism and overall star quality.
5. Only participants selected in the initial audition process will be eligible to compete for prizes at the main event on May 1st.
6. In the event that a selected finalist is unable to perform at the main event on May 1st, Noble County Idol reserves the right to select an alternate finalist to perform in his/her place at the event.
7. Prize winners will be selected in the junior and adult categories by the judges, based on a rating scale developed by Noble County Idol.
8. All judges decisions are final.
9. A tabulator will verify scores from the judges before winners are announced.
10. The winning participant in each category being judged by the panel will receive: $500 cash, a trophy, recording time in a local studio to record one song, airtime on WAWK – The Hawk Radio for the recorded song, a t-shirt, and opportunities to perform at various events around Noble County in 2010.
11. People’s Choice Award winners will be selected based on cash votes from the public, and will be announced on the evening of the main event. People’s Choice winners will receive: $50 cash, a trophy and a t-shirt.
12. All proceeds from Noble County Idol will benefit United Way of Noble County’s partner agencies.
